| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This high zoom ratio lens is exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras and capable of covering a wide range of focal lengths from wide-angle to telephoto. Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and two hybrid aspherical lenses offer the utmost correction for all types of aberrations, and enables this extended range super zoom lens to be housed in a compact and lightweight construction of 70mm (2.8") diameter, and 78.1mm (3.1") in length, and weighing just 405g/14.3oz. The new lens coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem of digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7") at all focal lengths and has maximum magnification of 1:4.4.The lens design incorporates an inner focusing system, which prevents the front of the lens from rotating, making it particularly suitable for using circular polarizing filters and petal shaped lens hoods. The overall length of the lens does not change during focusing, ensuring convenient handling and ease of use. A zoom lock switch eliminates 'zoom creep' during transportation, a convenient addition when traveling.

$159 FROM NORMAN CAMERA FIT IN D90; MADE IN JAPAN December 11, 2008 $159 free shipping/tax to CA; br /FROM NORMAN CAMERA (100% feedback amazing!);br /It FITs IN NK D90 AF control ; no OS or VR; but this should be not a problem at all; Good for practice and gain my Photographer Skills;br /This Sigma 18-200mm Lens MADE IN JAPAN....br /br /This lens is good; take some exiting pictures after install on D90 body. So far it be able a good back up for D90 kit lens 18-105mm (yuk! made in Thailand);br /br /also recommend nikkor 50mm/1.8D made in CHina: it is also a cheap ones but deliver performance.br /br / go for it; You will love it.
Definately a great value for the buck! December 9, 2008 I finally replaced my 18-55 nikkor lens that came with my D50 with this Sigma 18-200 lens. I took it out for the first time and shot my son's marathon run. Having more zoom option really makes the difference. I was planning on saving money for the nikkor os version, but I thought I'd give this a try first. I'm glad I did and saved me at least $450. I'm only giving 4 stars since Cameta was 2 days late in delivery and the box that came with could have used more bubble wraps. There was only one layer and the item was rolling inside the box. Thankfully, no damage, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.br /The lens don't have a problem auto focusing with my Nikon D50.br /When you have it at 18mm, it does creep out when tilted down. It's the same when you are zoomed out to 200mm and pointed up. Holding the lens while taking the photo seems to fix that though, so I don't have a problem with it.
What a price December 8, 2008 I can not believe I got this lens for this price. It is well made and while not super sharp for this range it is working great. At least as good as the Nikon 18-55 I replaced. Just remember this is the older version so you must have a Nikon with a built in lens motor. That is probably why it is being sold for this price. I was actually thinking I was getting a refurbished lens but was plesantly suprised when it arrived brand new. For $400-$600 I don't know but for $169 you can't go wrong.
love it! October 9, 2008 I'm not an experienced photographer, but this lense (and my Nikon D40) make me feel like I am!! I love this lense. For the money, it's fabulous!! The only thing that drives me crazy, is that it is manually focused exactly opposite from my old (crummy) lense, but I'm adjusting.
Reeeaaally hard to beat for $170! September 13, 2008 Did some comparisons to the Nikon 18-200 and, while this is missing some features (anti-shake, a little lower f rating at the zoom end, etc), it's really hard to beat for $170. Image comparisons show this lens, while not quite up to the Nikon, were excellent. It was on par or better than my Nikon 18-70. Focuses well and is relatively solid in build.
