Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The AT-X 100 PRO D is a macro lens capable of life-sized (1:1) reproduction at 11.8-inch (30cm). The lens' multi-coating has been re-engineered to match the highly reflective silicon based CCD and CMOS sensors in today's digital SLR cameras. This lens gives the best of both worlds because optics still gives full coverage and excellent sharpness on 35mm film. The AT-X 100 PRO D is a macro lens that can handle both the digital and film worlds with ease. The AT-X 100 PRO D also has a very convenient focus limiter switch that can lock the focus out of the closes focus making it focus faster when used as a moderate telephoto lens that is excellent portraits as well.

5 out of 5 stars Great lens   November 27, 2008
I was looking for a macro lens (my first), I was considering Sigma 105mm and tamron 90mm all of them are good choices, but I get better price on this Tokina, The image quality is excellent, It's very sensitive to movement, you have to use a tripode o monopode, even use it on manual mode to catch good pictures. It says that is 2.8 but is 2.8 only when the subjetc is far away. if your subject is closer like 30 centimeters it becomes 4 o 4.5 (aperture). Good Color, very Sharp and a nice little dark buke. The autofocus is slow, but you have to be patient on this kind of pictures. I took some portraints and look great very good.

1 out of 5 stars Started getting errors after 1 month of use   October 8, 2008

I purchased this lens and was initially very happy with it. However, within 30 days of light use I started to ge EE errors on my Nikon. So unfortunately I am not very happy with this purchase. I am looking at replacing it with a Nikon lense now.

5 out of 5 stars Very good lens   April 12, 2008

This is my first macro lens. I am very satisfied with the results. It does not have AF-S/HSM, but in macro auto focus performance/type is not very important. Optical and build quality is excellent. It does not have VR, but for macro you will need tripod or monopod in most cases anyway. VR would help if you use it as a short-telephoto, but it is not as practical as a good 70-200mm/f2.8 zoom lens. Very reasonably priced.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Macro Lens   April 10, 2008
For only half the price of Nikon 105mm, this lens is an amazingbr /bargain! br /It is super-sharp, renders great colors, autofocus is very smooth andbr /precise. I am very impressed with the manufacturing, too. br /Highly recommended.br /

5 out of 5 stars Price verses Quality   March 16, 2007

For the price this is a remarkable lens. I really like the focus and the sharpness. I use it on a D200 and experienced great results. A must for the price conscience consumer who wants all the quality he can get for his bucks.
