The Lensbaby 3G lens is a workhorse for photographers who require precise focusing, complete control, longer exposures, and repeatability. When working with dynamic subject matter you can focus Lensbaby 3G just like Lensbaby 2.0 - by compressing and bending. For slower moving or static subject matter, you can lock the lens in place simply by pressing a button on the focusing collar. Then you can fine focus using a traditional barrel focusing ring and fine tune the tilt to place the sweet spot exactly where you want.Lensbaby 3G features the same low dispersion, high refractive index, multi-coated optical glass doublet as Lensbaby 2.0, and delivers images with a tack sharp sweet spot with minimal diffusion even at the f/2 aperture setting. The Lensbaby 3G SLR lens for Canon SLR Cameras combines an old-fashioned bellows camera with an up-tight tilt-shift lens, and the 3G allows photographers to lock the Lensbaby in a desired bent position simply by pressing a button. Then, using a traditional barrel focus mechanism, you can do fine focusing and precisely place the sweet spot of sharp focus before pressing the shutter release. Lensbaby selective focus SLR camera lenses take photos with one area in sharp focus, with that sweet spot surrounded by graduated blur. Tricky but fun! August 29, 2008
This little guy is a tricky guy to work with but it is fun, I can't imagine a better invested money for something fun. I must add that the price should have included the sturdy case sold separate that I got as well.

I saw this at Photoshop World and was totally intrigued. It has a slight learning curve, but be patient and you'll be fully rewarded! Even tho you can be fancy schmancy with photo's, my little point and shoot ran out of juice this past week at Disney World, so I just switched out a few little bits on the LB and was able to take regular photo's as well. Service from the LB folks is great just as well and be sure to check out their website as there is a whole community of "benders" willing to share with you.

One of my complaints about the digital world (while I shot and enjoy it) is that it is predictable. This can lead to some pretty uncreative photography. I love how the Lensbaby puts creativity, experimentation, and the random back into photography. It is wonderful. If you are willing to let go of some control and have some fun, the baby is for you. Two thumbs up!

While it isn't for everyone, the Lensbaby 3G brings back a little of the soft and ethereal to digital photography. The selective focus sweet spot gets larger with smaller apertures, deliciously small with the wider ones. With my Canon 20D set to aperture priority, the light meter is able to calculate the correct exposure even though the lens does not electronically communicate with the camera. Often used for portraits and wedding photography (check the galleries at lensbabies.com), I like it for product shots that pop when everything else in the shot fades away. I love this lens.
