the proof is in the pictures December 2, 2008 This camera was a replacement to a previous Canon 590. I was able to compare its function and results with that as well as my daughter's Sony 8mp Cybershot.br /Although physically this is a much different camera in terms of size, functionally it is similar to the 590 with minor differences. With the 590 there is a setting for both "night shot" "night scene" where there is no "night scene" setting on the 770. However, pictures shot at night with the 770 fared as well if not better than the 590 as long as the camera was steady.br /The extra two megapixels seem to really make a difference in terms of color and clarity. I am not a professional photographer, but I'm not a rank amateur either. Compared to the Sony, these pictures jump out at you. The color in the Sony appears washed out when placed next to the Canon. We had two separate family events where several pictures of the same scene were shot with each camera so we could actually compare the pictures on the computer side by side. The difference is stunning. For the person who isn't interested in all the technical data, the bottom line is....br /the Canon 770is 10mp camera takes excellent pictures with excellent color and clarity. It is compact and easy to manage except perhaps for those who have sausages for fingers (you know who you are). The price has recently dropped as well, so for a great buy, I'd strongly recommend this camera.
Great Camera, good deal! December 1, 2008 This is the second camera of this type we have bought. We got this one for our daughter and she loves it. Ease of use and small enough to fit into her purse. Love the Canon cameras.
all in the family November 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I mentioned to my brother that I was planning to buy a new digital camera, he told me that he, his son and his daughter all had this model and that they were all very happy with it. Figuring I couldn't get a better recommendation, I bought one for myself. I, too, am very happy with it and look forward to taking it on my next vacation. The picture quality is great and the size is ideal, especially for traveling.

Great little camera. Fits easily into my purse. I can have a camera handy when I don't want to be loaded down carrying a bunch of camera equipment.
Awesome little camera! November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this camera for about a month now. I bought it to replace my water/shock proof Olympus camera model Stylus 770 SW (which wasn't that great, the only reason I loved it was because of it's waterproofiness).br /br /I love this camera! It takes fantastic photos for everyday shots. I wasn't looking for anything fancy or professional, and this camera is much better than what I expected. It blew me away in all possible aspects. The colors are awesome and stay pretty true to the original(especially landscapes and the colors of sunsets).br /br /What really blew me away (mostly because I was not expecting it) is the video quality. It is AWESOME! And huge! The Olympus camera I had took ridiculous video footage. It was too small (even at it's biggest setting) and the quality was horrible. The image was always too blown out with white. This camera, however, takes fantastic video, even in low light.br /br /If you want an everyday, awesome camera - GET THIS ONE. I haven't had a problem with it since I bought it and fell instantly in love with it.
