Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Sunlight, daylight, incandescent, fluorescent, and other artificial light sources all have color characteristics that vary significantly. Filters give you better images by adjusting for these light variations. Film and video are rated for a particular color temperature such as that of daylight or tungsten light. Filters are used to correct differences in color temperatures between the recording medium and a light source. The 80A filter balances daylight film for use with most standard tungsten lighting, studio lighting and copy stand lighting.

5 out of 5 stars Lens protector   November 29, 2008
Great choice for everyday use: protects your lens from scratches and almost doesn't impact the image colors

4 out of 5 stars Circular Polarizer and UV Filter   November 25, 2008
CIRCULAR POLARIZER:br /If you have ever owned a pair of Polarized sunglasses, then you now what this filter can do for your camera. By reducing reflections and stray light waves, this filter makes any scene that much clearer.br /You will see more vibrant colors in bright scenes, your skies will turn a deeper blue, and clouds POP right off the picture. Reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as metal or water.br /br /A polarizer works on a specified plain, meaning that the lens must be perpendicular to the direction of the main light source. As with sunglasses, they are parrallel to the ground, which works in most cases since the sun is normally above you.br /The key to using this filter is that it swivels. Looking through the view finder, turn the filter until the picture is clear and vibrant. You'll notice the image changing as you turn it. In this manner, you may even adjust the level of polarization.br /br /A great deal for a very valuable accessory. This filter works perfect, and compared to the higher priced filters, is a steal.br /br /----------------------------------------------br /br /UV FILTER:br /The UV Filter prevents haze and reduces bluish tint in photographs by reducing stray UV rays entering the lens. It also has the added benefit of protecting the lens and glass from scratches and accidental damage.br /br /There have been stories of photographers dropping their lens and the filter acts as a sort of impact absorber, shattering but leaving the lens unharmed. I would much prefer replacing the inexpensive filter, rather than a lens.br /br /I've read some reviews claiming to have experienced glare in photographs caused by lights in low-light conditions. While I have never experienced this effect, if this poses a problem, it is easy enough to remove the filter in low-light conditions. br /br /Overall, the Tiffen filter fits snug and works well. No problems at all since purchase. I just purchased another one for another lens.br /br /Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Great Tiffen Consistency   November 17, 2008
Bought this for my 18-55mm Nikon lens on my newly purchased D80 D-SLR. Threaded onto the flange nicely and is low profile enough to not interfere with wide angle shots. Element rotates smoothly but remains in place between shots and even during transport. Great filter, great quality, very affordable.

4 out of 5 stars Great filter   November 16, 2008
Very good filter for blocking background movement. You capture just the object of your desire, but none of the things moving in the background. Also very good for reducing harsh sunlight entering the lens, if you have to take pictures during the middle of the day. I only gave it 4 stars because I have not used it very much, since I've just recently bought it.
