don't forget the bokeh February 3, 2010 rj This lens is great!
It is sharp. IQ is great. It feels crappy but I love the shots I get from it. Bokeh is suprisingly good. Believe it or not, in good lighting this lens makes really nice portraits. Focus works good enough for me during daytime. It weighs almost nothing and is therefore a good compromise for a wildlife lens for hiking. VR works pretty good. I doubt you will find anything comparable for the price.
Be aware that it is almost completely made of plastic, is a slow lens that doesn't qualify for low light use, it has a pretty slow autofocus, a crappy manual focus ring, and no manual focus override. If you need any of that, you need to spend more money on a heavier lens.
good value February 2, 2010 pepsi (gainesville,fl usa) Very nice all around lense. But if you use it indoors alot you may want to use a lense that is more light sensitve. Otherwise even indoors it gives excellent photos.
Not so vibrant reductive February 2, 2010 Maksym Ivanyna This lens produces really sharp pictures (when holding camera in hands) only when the light is very good. Otherwise, one has to use some surface. I was hoping for more, even though the rest of it is great.
Absolutely worth it February 1, 2010 Justin R. Mattern (CT) My wife has the Nikon D40, this lense was to give us something with a little more zoom. The automatic focus isn't as fast as I would have liked but the pictures are clear and the zoom is decent.
Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Zoom Nikkor Lens January 27, 2010 K. J. Kumar (California, CA USA) Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Zoom Nikkor Lens is a befitting compliment to my D80. It's a great lens for shooting at low lux , where you want the real ambiance without flash.
This VR capable NIKOR Lens is highly recommended for any one who's serious about shooting professional looking pictures.
