Works Great !!! November 17, 2008 So far it works great with Windows XP. I am using Transcend's HC class 6 4GB SD card.
Not very user friendly November 9, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Have to stop and start every time to get weight for a different person.br /The manual is not very helpful. It took forever to figure out how to use it and I am still unable to use it correctly.br /
Works Great November 4, 2008 Bought this one after my camera's usb connection broke and almost hope it broke earlier. This thing downloads my images from a CF card at least 4 times faster! Also SD Micro SD are working great. Drivers are not necessary on windows XP. Used with several computers without any problem.
Cheap, Fast, Good November 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There is an old saying among engineers and designers:br /"CHEAP, FAST, GOOD - pick any two"br /It is very rare that we can get to pick all three - as in this case.br /br /I purchased this item (Transcend M5 Multi Card Reader) because I need to read/write high-capacity SDHC cards, and my old card reader (Lexar Media RW022-001) is unable to recognize them. So far, I have tested the Transcend M5 with many different brands of CF and SD/SDHC cards, and it worked flawlessly.br /br /Just for fun, I also benchmarked several CF and SD cards in both my new Transcend M5 and old Lexar reader. I'm surprised to find out that the card reader actually makes a big difference in the data transfer rate.br /br /For example: when I benchmarked the SanDisk 2GB Ultra II CF Card in my old Lexar reader, I received a rather disappointing write speed of 4.1MB/S (equivalent to '27x'). But the same card in the new Transcend M5 gave me a write speed of 5.9MB/S (equivalent to '40x'). That's nearly 50% fast data transfer rate! Other CF and SD cards tested also showed similar performance boost.br /(Note that Sandisk claims the Ultra II CF is capable of 15MB/S, but that's the maximum speed under optimal test condition)br /br /In summary, the Transcend M5 card reader is very inexpensive, gives much faster data rate than my old card reader, and seems to be very well-constructed. That makes it an excellent buy in my book.br /
Worked with SDHC card, not with Sony Pro Duo August 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this because I needed something that would read SDHC cards. It does that well and fast. On vacation a friend with a Sony camera wanted to download pictures to my computer to email. We couldn't get it to read the Sony card, though it's within spec. Tried the usual rebooting, etc. I did NOT download or use Transcend's software.br /br /Now that I'm home, I don't have the Sony card to troubleshoot or call the Transcend people. br /br /I still rated the unit a "5" because it's small, light, worked well with the SDHC card and other Transcend products I've used have been flawless.
