The Canon BG-E5 Battery Grip has been launched alongside the Canon EOS 450D. Slotting into the battery bay, it is able to take 6 AA batteries or two of the 450D's new LP-E5 batteries. It provides a shutter button and control dial along with AE/FE Lock, exposure compensation and AF point selection buttons in a vertical orientation. The Canon BG-E5 offers creative flexibility by providing a stable grip for vertical as well as horizontal positions.

I was definitely disappointed, I ordered this and plugged it into my camera, only to find that none of the buttons on the grip worked. It still supplied power to the camera, but it still didn't work... And the bag was broken, and there's really no need for the cleaning kit.br /br /And the customer service wasn't what I expected it to be. They messed up, sending me a bad grip, so they should fix it. They shouldn't expect me to have to pay for the shipping to exchange it for a new one.

These generic Batteries seem to be working just fine.br /The cleaning kit is kinda cheaply made.br /This case is ok and with lots of room in the side and front pockets for accessories, but there in no room for your Camera with a longer Lens attached if you want to take a 200mm with you so you end up using a different case or this one and a seperate lens case if you are making a day of it. No trouble unless you are in a Park away from things and don't want to lug around a bunch of stuff. If it were just 2 inches wider... Anyways, the Battery Grip is GREAT! Having the extra Battery life sure makes it nice when you are away from an outlet for a while. It comes with an additional insert as well to house 6 AA batteries in case your regular LP-E5 batteries lose their power. That is a pretty handy option too since 7/11s and even Gas Stations sell AA batteries and hardly anyone sells Canon LP-E5 batteries when you are on the road.br /I recommend this for parties etc where you will not be changing lenses a lot (Unless you are a professional) and though the cleaning kit is kind of a piece of crap, it is good enough to get you to a photo store where you can get a decent one. It's free anyways and comes with the good stuff you just purchased. Give it to your kid to play with, use the lense cleaning cloth for your sunglasses, reading glasses or cheap field glasses.
