4 out of 5 stars Great Camera, Pretty Good Price   November 22, 2008
Been using this for not too long, but taking a ton of pics. Its tiny...almost too small for a DSLR, and that makes it very front heavy. But then again, since its so small and light, I carry it around more. The Active D-Lighting is stupid proof, as is the VR Image Stabilization. If you actually know how to run a DSLR full manual, I would actually say go for the D40 and use the extra money for another lens. They can both shoot RAW too. The D60 is more for the casual photographer who would like to use the presets, or full AUTO, kinda like me. Definitely go for a Class6 SD card, as write speed is heavily dependent on the speed of your SD card. I noticed a huge jump in speed from Class2 to Class4, and a smaller, but noticable jump from Class4 to Class6. And with SD cards so cheap now, you'll be cheating yourself to save a few bucks by getting a slower card. You'll notice it the most if you use RAW or ever use the multi-shot setting. br /br /All in all, awesome camera for the average photographer. But advanced (read: manual) users might want a D40 because they know what they're doing or a D90 for the additional features, like HD Video.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible pictures   November 22, 2008
I debated between the Nikon D60 and an Olympus. I am quite pleased with my choice of the D60. My past experience with Nikon SLR film cameras and the quality of Nikon was the deciding factor. Having experienced poor results with a high dollar Sony digital camera someone gave me, I knew I needed quality I trusted, like Nikon or Olympus, not just a price tag. I considered the D80 and D90, but chose the D60 for its simplicity and its light weight compared to the 80 and 90. Amazon service and pricing, plus the large number of sellers that promote accessories on Amazon was also important to me. It really cut the time involved in finding "add-ons" for my digital camera. By investigating items offered on Amazon and eBay, I have saved a significant amount of money in building my Nikon arsenal.

5 out of 5 stars Great camera for the price.   November 2, 2008
If you only have 600$ (I got mine for 564$) to spend I believe that this is the camera for you. Takes some awesome pictures right out of the box (provided you have a memory card). The modes on this thing are amazing - although I find myself sticking mostly to shutter and manual modes (having come from a film camera background). Prepare to be amazed at the ease of use and the freedom to carry this unit anywhere it's overall size and weight are both big enough to hold easily and light enough to bring with you anytime. If you're a casual picture taker or semi-professional - this is a great unit and you can save enough to warrant getting a lens upgrade or a flash. I enjoy this camera daily and hope that you will too.

4 out of 5 stars Nice DSLF   November 2, 2008

I originally had a D90 - which is one heck of a camera, but it is about twice the price of the D60.br /br /The D60, though a smaller body, provides excellent photos.br /br /The D60 has fewer features than the D90 - such as a maximum ISO of 1600, but this camera is feature rich for the price.br /br /This is my first DSLR as I had previously used print Canon's.br /br /The D60 works well in low light situations - for example shooting indoors without a flash.br /br /This camera offers good value and performance - I am very happy with this unit.

5 out of 5 stars Nikon D60 w/18-55 lens   October 30, 2008
Excellent camera. I am very satisfied with the versatility and resolution.br /For the money this camera has the necessary 10.2MP to provide professionalbr /pictures. Highly recommended. The Nikon support is par excellence. Technical help is available for questions that are unavailable in thebr /manual.
