Well, after more than 2 years of use all I can say that the S-Video input didn't work from day one.br /All my tries to get a signal threw it not worked.br /So I'm using only the Composite input. Capturing straight to DIVX (My premier rezone for the buy) didn't work on my 2Ghz Pentium. Only when I got my new Core2 (about A year ago) the divx is working, but you have limited options configuring it. So I mainly capturing to MPEG2 and convert to divx with VirtualDub.

this software is alright I ran into problems with the video skipping and freezing and audio issues...it's not the best but it's ok...I had to develop a method of editing because of all the skipping...but it's weird sometimes I don't have the problem....when I first got it the only problem I had was the audio being out of sync

I have used ADS Tech DVD for 3 years, and my old system finally gave up. I tried several others and none of them were as easy to use or gave me the quality of work I needed. This is the best system I have ever used to download video/audio from our Video recorders as well as our Dish Satelite PVRs. This newer version is even better by not having to have a power supply to run the converter box. We can use it to download video/audio directly to our laptop while on a job. Saving having to dowload the video when returning home. The converter and software give us the highest quailty available, while other systems need to be converted again after downloading. [...]

I purchased the ADS Tech DVD Xpress DX2 Video Converter for my hp Pavilion Windows XP SP3 PC. I have the earlier version (DVD Express) which works very well. Downloaded the software with no problems. Checked the UBS connection through my Windows XP device manager, all was fine. Everthing worked well (REVIEW,sound was fine). When I tried to use the CapWiz 'RECORD' button, Revcived an unexpected ULead MPEG Error. I tried to contact ADS support but could not get any answer to my requests. It ssems the ADS company was sold recently and current tech support is no-operative. I finally found, by accident, a 1-800 number at the new company and it turned out that it was the new ADS tech support. After relating my problem to them I was rudely informed that I was on my own. I have returned the product. I obviously can't recommend this converter based on my experience.
Great Product! Super Editing Software! August 21, 2008
Before I got this DVD Express DX2 I tried the "Easy Cap" Video Capture device and it was a poor product. It captured the video OK, but the audio was bad (with a high pitched tone). Along with the USB plug it also had an audio phono jack that had to be plugged into the sound card and that is what produced the irritating high pitched tone. br /br /ENTER DVD EXPRESS DX2! This product is super! Great video AND audio capture (from my analog camcorder). Only uses a USB plug for both the video and audio capture function...no stupid phono jack to have to plug into the sound card. And the editing/movie making software ("ArcSoft Showbiz") is excellent! I've used "Windows Movie Maker" which was mediocre and it would not let me convert a movie I had created...it kept popping up a problem window everytime I tried to save it to a file. How frustrating! But the ArcSoft Showbiz software works very much like Windows Movie Maker but better with more options and tools for creativity. It was able to save a 10 minute movie I had created with no problems at all. I will be using ArcSoft Showbiz from now on...and screw Windows Movie Maker! I haven't even tried to use the DVD Express to convert some of my old VHS videos to DVD yet (which it is supposed to do well) and I still think it's worth every penny! br /
