Product Description
DIVIn the first, desperate days of the Human-Covenant War, the UNSC has enacted the Cole Protocol to safeguard Earth and its Inner Colonies from discovery by a merciless alien foe. Many are called upon to rid the universe of lingering navigation data that would reveal the location of Earth. Among them is Navy Lieutenant Jacob Keyes. Thrust back into action after being sidelined, Keyes is saddled with a top secret mission by ONI. One that will take him deep behind enemy lines, to a corner of the universe where nothing is as it seems. Out beyond the Outer Colonies lies the planet Hesiod, a gas giant surrounded by a vast asteroid belt. As the Covenant continues to glass the human occupied planets near Hesiod, many of the survivors, helped by a stronghold of human Insurrectionists, are fleeing to the asteroid belt for refuge. They have transformed the tumbling satellites into a tenuous, yet ingenious, settlement known as the Rubble--and have come face-to-face with a Covenant settlement of Kig-Yar . . . yet somehow survived. News of this unlikely treaty has spread to the warring sides. Luckily for the UNSC, this uneasy alliance is in the path of the Spartan Gray Team, a three-man renegade squad whose simple task is to wreak havoc from behind enemy lines in any way they see fit. But the Prophets have also sent their best---an ambitious and ruthless Elite, whose quest for nobility and rank is matched only by his brutality . . . and who will do anything to secure his Ascendancy and walk the Path. /DIV

5 out of 5 stars Halo: keep them coming   January 7, 2009
I enjoyed this book a lot. Have been dying for more in the series. Hope some one or Nylund get back to the Master Chief soon. Really when it comes down to it he's the series kinda Like the Atredies in Dune series

3 out of 5 stars A fun read.   January 1, 2009

The book was fine, just seemed like a bit too much going on and so there wasn't a lot of focus and character development. It is a decent addition to the series as far as the story goes but definitely not as good as the first 3.

3 out of 5 stars Decently Entertaining   January 1, 2009
I enjoyed this book but I didn't think it was as interesting as the other Halo novels. There were also a few grammatical errors as well. Overall, I think readers need to be versed in the Halo universe to get the most out of it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   December 30, 2008
I really enjoyed this Halo installment because it didn't have all the technical jargon that comes along with the other books and it had a very interesting storyline. I am someone who does not play the Halo games as heavily as i used to but i would definitely add this to your Halo collection if have not already and even though it is not that long it is still action packed and has a lot of good info in it.br /

1 out of 5 stars Halo Brand at risk...   December 25, 2008
2 out of 3 found this review helpful

I am a big fan of halo and I have read the previous books in the series.br /This one is just bad - poorly written, weak character development both of humans and aliens, and a weak plot line.br /br /Microsoft needs to be more careful and protect the halo brand.
