 Don't buy this December 27, 2008
I am on my second one of these--Epson sent out a refurb to replace my first one under warranty. The first one's automatic document feeder (ADF) jammed more times than not. It would not reliably feed a single sheet. Multiple sheets? Forget it. The refurb they graciously sent me is exactly the same--i.e., it doesn't work more than half the time. I wanted to use this thing to scan a lot of printed material, but having to feed single sheets is way too slow, especially since the machine scans slowly and the software moves at a similarly glacial pace. I have ended up using an ancient PaperPort sheet scanner instead. I still have to feed single sheets, but at a speed of about 1-2 seconds per page, with about a 3 second processing time between scans, it is a lot quicker than the Epson. br /Also, my CX9400 is the version that comes with a wireless print server. I have never been able to get it to work. I called Epson's (clueless, script-reading) so-called customer support personnel. They drug me through a half-hour of scripts before referring me to the customer support line of the company which manufactured the server. The fellow there (who at least was not reading a script) spent TWO AND A HALF HOURS on the phone with me, trying to get this misbegotten machine to work, all to no avail. So, despite paying a good bit more for the wireless function, I have only been able to use the printer by connecting a USB cable. br /The fax function works only sporadically.br /I have also had experiences with excessive ink consumption similar to those mentioned elsewhere. I am going to try not turning it off, as recommended by another reviewer, to see if that helps.br /The machine prints okay, but if I just wanted a printer, I could have spent a fraction of what this cost for that. br /I bought mine from Epson's on-line store. They refuse to take this thing back and refund my money, offering only to send me yet another refurb. br /We use HP all-in-one's at work, and they seem to be bullet-proof. The ADF's in particular seem to work flawlessly. I bought this Epson because HP couldn't equal the features I wanted (wireless printing, fax, etc.) for anything like the price of this. But then, it seems Epson couldn't do it either.
This thing sure sucks down the ink December 9, 2008
Print quality and all of that is fine, but this thing is an "ink hog". I usually only use black, but it decided that I needed cyan and wouldn't allow me to print in black (or at all) until I put a new cyan in. That is just crazy! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY--THE LAST PRINTER I HAD FOR 5 YEARS, ALSO AN EPSON AND WAS THE BEST, SO I THOUGHT TO GO WITH A UPDATED PROCDUCT WOULD WORK THE SAME, BUT I WAS VERY WRONG
Terrible! Waste of time and money!! November 18, 2008
This is the worst printer I have ever had. I have had nothing but problems with it. It drains the ink and is very loud. Now I have to restart it every time I print because it says paper jam. Also, the alignment is terrible but I can't fix it because it keeps needing to be restated. This is junk!

I love this printer. I faxed for the first time today and it worked fine (even though I am out of all color ink). I have not had any of the problems others describe. Granted, the printer is a little rickety and the paper was difficult to load at first, but I got the hang of it. It's nice to look at and I've never had a problem with it. It prints great, even offers reverse pagination, which I love for when I have a long report to print. It saves time. I just haven't experienced any of the problems others describe. I've replaced the ink twice since I got it, went fine. I think it's a great unit for the price.

First off the printer does work, good print quality, faxing, etc.br /However, there are somb big issues with this all in one.br /br /First - it BURNS through ink, I mean BURNS through it. Boy did I make a mistake listening to the advice from the guy at Staples who claimed the printer used ink more efficiently than other models.br /br /Secondly - this one is the stake in the heart. This printer won't let you fax, scan or print in BLACK only, if one of the other colors runs out. Yes that is right, your printer, won't let you just use your BLACK ink to print in BLACK if one of the other 5 colors is out, nor will it let you fax something - even though you don't need to use any ink at all for that. Sure windows lets you select black only, but your printer calmly sits there doing nothing, telling you to replace magenta in order to resume printing, faxing, etc... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? Save yourself some aggravation and buy something else.
