I like the convenience... December 16, 2008 I like the convenience of this lens, but I'm a little bit disappointed in it. The zoom is somehow stiff and loose at the same time, and feels "plasticky". I really like an out of focus background, and with this lens it's not very pleasing. I much prefer my 70-300 VR there.br /br /On the other hand, it's sharp, and focuses fast. And soooo very convenient.br /br /
Nikon VR lens December 15, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The optics are very good, the autofocus works very quickly, and the Vibration reduction feature allows me to take pictures in lower light without a tripod. My one reservation about this lens(as compared to the 18-135 lens that came with my D-80) is that when the lens shade is screwed on backwards to be handy but out of the way in lower light situations, trying to zoom the lens is cumbersome because the zoom ring is partially covered by the shade.
Excellent Lens December 12, 2008 Great lens. This is the only lens I need on my camera now. No more swapping. The photos are brilliant, even in low light conditions. The VR works amazing.br /br /This lens has made a big difference in the quality and the number of pictures I am taking.br /br /Well worth the money.
WARNING--not latest version--look for "VR II" December 7, 2008 3 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is probably an excellent lens, but it's not the latest version. The latest version is "VR II" with updated vibration control. Make sure you're comparing apples to apples.
18-200mm December 1, 2008 Good all around lens. This replaces all my other lenses except Nikkor 12-24 which is the most usefull lens I own.
